About the position

The Information Security Analyst Senior role at USAA is focused on managing model risk within the cybersecurity domain. This position involves collaboration across various departments, technical analysis, and solution development, with a strong emphasis on model life-cycle management for cybersecurity technologies. The analyst will investigate security anomalies, conduct vulnerability assessments, and respond to cyber incidents, while also mentoring junior analysts and communicating findings to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Leads peers and team members in executing Information Security domain activities.
  • Researches and analyzes the latest information security vulnerabilities, threats, exploits, trends, and intelligence.
  • Conducts advanced vulnerability management, security configuration assessments, and penetration testing operations.
  • Develops analysts through training and knowledge sharing activities.
  • Monitors networks, systems, and applications for advanced security anomalies and events.
  • Responds to cyber incidents, performing detailed analysis to determine root cause and impact.
  • Utilizes discoveries from incident response to improve detection capabilities and security controls.
  • Prepares and delivers briefs with recommendations to senior leadership on threats and incidents.
  • Mentors and coaches peers and team members in assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified and controlled.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 6 years of related experience in Information Security, Cybersecurity, or Information Technology with a security focus.
  • 4 years of experience in Security and Risk Management, Asset Security, Security Architecture, Communications and Network Security, Identity and Access Management, Security Assessment and Testing, Security Operations, or Software Development Security.
  • Advanced level of business acumen in business operations, risk management, and industry practices.
  • Knowledge of attacker tools, tactics, and procedures for incident response.

Nice-to-haves

  • Extensive work experience in model development and statistical analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge in quantitative fields such as Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Data Science.
  • Expert skill in producing high-quality technical documentation for model risk management.
  • Strong experience in communicating complex technical concepts to leadership and auditors.
  • Strong programming skills in R, Python, SAS, Java, C, SQL, or similar languages.
