About the position

The Information Security Data Analyst I position at the University of Rochester is an entry-level role focused on supporting the Information Security team through data collection, analysis, and reporting. The analyst will utilize statistical techniques to interpret data, assist in creating presentations and reports, and ensure the integrity of databases and dashboards. This role is essential for evaluating the effectiveness of security programs and making data-driven decisions in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the development of methods for data collection, analysis, and reporting for the Information Security team.
  • Analyzes and interprets data using statistical techniques.
  • Assists with the creation of presentations and reports based on findings, including collating, modeling, interpreting, and analyzing data.
  • Collects data requirements, analyzes technical issues, and designs ad-hoc reports.
  • Tracks, compiles, and develops comprehensive security metric data for evaluating program effectiveness.
  • Builds security solutions based on data.
  • Designs reports to meet data analysis needs.
  • Prepares detailed documentation and reporting.
  • Updates and maintains the integrity of assigned databases and dashboards.
  • Consults with various InfoSec teams to assess data preparation and management needs.
  • Aggregates data from different tools and provides assessments and recommendations for data-driven security decisions.
  • Identifies trends and patterns through statistical analysis to assist in developing assessment reports and remediation plans.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline preferred (e.g., Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Database Management, Science, or Engineering).
  • 1 year of related experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic knowledge of information security principles required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills required.
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills required.
  • Strong statistics and statistical analysis skills with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.
  • Familiarity with data visualization platforms preferred.

Benefits

  • Full-time position with a competitive salary range of $44,419 - $62,186 annually.
