About the position

The Director of Information Security is responsible for leading the strategy and activities related to information security within the organization. This role involves overseeing a team that develops and implements a comprehensive enterprise security strategy, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and protecting sensitive information. The Director will also conduct risk assessments, manage security incidents, and provide education on security policies and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Direct strategy and activities related to information security.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the information security team.
  • Develop and implement an enterprise security strategy, program, and architecture.
  • Monitor and enforce firm-wide information security policies.
  • Conduct information risk assessments as part of business planning.
  • Serve as a liaison to clients regarding information security matters.
  • Lead the response to information security incidents.
  • Identify and report on information security incidents to management.
  • Manage organizational risk by ensuring protection of enterprise infrastructure.
  • Evaluate and recommend security products and services.
  • Oversee security awareness programs and provide education on security policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Management or related work experience.
  • Experience managing Information Security staff, including performance evaluation and personnel actions.
  • Knowledge of compliance with information security standards such as ISO 27002/1 and GDPR.
  • Ability to develop a strategic vision for the security program and organize resources effectively.
  • Experience in monitoring security logs and analyzing security reports for vulnerabilities.
  • Knowledge of security infrastructure including identity and access management, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
  • CISSP or other major security certification preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with state and federal privacy laws.
  • Familiarity with security developments in the commercial world and law.
  • Experience in security engineering and problem management activities.
