About the position

The Information Security Engineer II (ISE2) at Lumen is responsible for managing security customer orders from initiation to onboarding, ensuring high-quality service delivery and customer satisfaction. This role involves interacting with customers to analyze and document security configurations, as well as providing regular updates on order progress. The ISE2 will work with various internal teams to optimize security solutions and maintain compliance with operational procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an order queue of security customers from service order received to customer onboarding.
  • Meet key performance metrics by completing services with high quality and on-time.
  • Engage internal teams and customers to optimize security design solutions and order accuracy in ordering systems.
  • Process new installations, migrations, and modifications to customer security services.
  • Gather security data from customers as needed to complete configuration documentation for security provisioning and activation.
  • Build customer service orders in Fortinet firewall platform based on information gathered from customer technical contacts.
  • Activate customer services during maintenance windows and perform troubleshooting as needed during activation events.
  • Participate in activation on-call rotation.
  • Provide timely written status updates in the ordering systems, set appropriate jeopardy status, escalations, and engage appropriate resources to overcome obstacles impeding order progress.
  • Review, comply with, and edit standard operation procedures and other engineering documents and templates.
  • Remain current on the latest data network and security technology through completion of required/recommended training and reading material.
  • Attend new product and product feature enhancement meetings to learn and internalize new product or feature offerings.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the telecommunications industry and security.
  • Fundamental knowledge of OSI model, TCP/IP, and IP Routing.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Routing Protocols and Hardware Platforms including BGP, OSPF, GRE, TCP/IP and IP Routing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail with good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively and professionally with customers, team members, and cross-functional organizations.
  • Ability to thrive in an environment with changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to pro-actively manage issues and drive resolution with minimal direction from peers/management.
