About The Position

Starr Insurance Companies is seeking a qualified and experienced Firewall and Network Security Engineer to join its Information Security Team. This newly created role is pivotal in ensuring the effectiveness and availability of Starr's network security posture. The successful candidate will work closely with the IT Security team and collaborate with IT Infrastructure to safeguard the corporate network against cyber threats and attacks. The role requires a deep understanding of various cyber threats and attack methodologies, enabling the engineer to recommend appropriate products and solutions to maintain the integrity and effectiveness of the network. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining Palo Alto firewalls and related technologies, including Panorama, Prisma Access, Prisma Cloud, and GlobalProtect. They will be responsible for designing effective, scalable, redundant, and secure networks and systems, as well as managing DMZ perimeter, internal network segmentation, and remote access security solutions. The engineer will also author and deploy efficient firewall rulesets, conduct reviews and cleanups, and maintain documentation to meet ongoing audit and regulatory requirements. In addition to firewall management, the candidate will utilize packet capture and analysis tools to troubleshoot network issues, perform root cause analysis, and manage vulnerabilities by researching threats and implementing appropriate countermeasures. A strong knowledge of Palo Alto Networks' security platform, security protocols, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and network protocols such as TCP/IP, VPN, NAT, and routing is essential. The role also involves collaborating with security teams to integrate firewall infrastructure with other security tools, ensuring a cohesive security posture across the organization.
