About the position

The Information Security Specialist position at the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) is responsible for managing security programs and operations within the Office of Continuity and Security Management. This role involves safeguarding classified national security information, ensuring secure communications, and overseeing the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) operations. The position is open to federal employees and those eligible under special hiring authorities, with a focus on maintaining compliance with intelligence community guidance and federal security policies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the sensitive compartmented information facility (SCIF) operations.
  • Manage security programs in support of the planning, organization, and development of NCUA missions.
  • Ensure all secure communication is in accordance with Intelligence Community guidance to prevent unauthorized interceptors.
  • Serve as a registrar for the Homeland Security Policy Directive 12 (HSPD-12) PIV program.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Specialized experience equivalent to CU/GS-12 level for CU-13 applicants, including safeguarding classified national security information and conducting information security inspections.
  • Specialized experience equivalent to CU/GS-13 level for CU-14 applicants, including investigating information security violations and managing secure communications systems.
