About the position

The Information Services Summer Internship at Northwestern Medicine offers undergraduate and graduate students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in healthcare IT. This 10-12 week paid internship is designed to provide valuable insights into the operations of a leading healthcare organization while allowing interns to contribute their skills and knowledge to various projects. Interns will engage in multiple domains, including technical support, analytics, digital products, development, and project management, all while upholding the mission and values of Northwestern Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Uphold the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine.
  • Successfully complete projects and work tasks assigned.
  • Develop a working knowledge of hospital operations to support project completion.
  • Build working relationships with staff and management for effective business interactions.
  • Participate in activities designed for intern development, including orientation and networking opportunities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of at least 2 semesters in an Associates or undergraduate program or 30 credit hours.
  • Demonstrated superior academic performance and leadership skills.
  • Relevant healthcare experience is preferred.
  • Project maturity, professionalism, and initiative are essential.
  • Comfortable in complex organizations with a passion for healthcare IT.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of at least the sophomore year of study.
