About the position

The Information Specialist 2 (Videographer) at the Iowa Department of Education plays a crucial role in the Communications team, focusing on photography and videography to create engaging content for various platforms. This position is responsible for managing multimedia projects, ensuring brand consistency, and supporting the Communications Director in delivering effective communication materials that align with the department's mission of providing a world-class education to all students.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in digital media/multimedia for statewide initiatives.
• Manage and produce video and photo content for events and special projects.
• Edit and post-process multimedia projects using Adobe Creative Suite.
• Organize and manage multimedia assets, including sorting and tagging.
• Edit and proofread agency materials and manage exhibitor booth setups at events.
• Identify marketing efforts and provide support for bureau activities.

Requirements

• 12 semester hours of education in advanced photographic and video capture techniques.
• 6 months of full-time experience in photography and videography or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of educational programs administered by the Iowa Department of Education.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in expressing ideas through visual media.
• Strong time management skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Mass Communication and public relations.
• Coursework in journalism, public relations, graphics, or communicative arts.
• Experience in writing, editing, layout, design, and publishing of printed materials.
• Experience with web content management systems and web development software.
• Experience with graphic design and video production software.
