About the position

The Information System/Business Analyst I position at the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) is focused on conducting project analysis and documenting business requirements to support the agency's mission of transforming young lives and strengthening families. The role involves leading quality assurance testing for agency applications, collaborating with application developers, and ensuring that projects meet the needs of end users and the agency as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with project analysis and gathering business requirements for agency application updates and new projects.
  • Documents business requirements and works closely with application developers to ensure projects are meeting the needs of the end users.
  • Leads quality assurance testing of agency developed applications prior to release.
  • Assists in the implementation of application development projects.
  • Creates user guides and training materials for the end users.
  • Assists in supporting and maintaining agency applications by gathering information from end users when bugs or issues are reported.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and experience in computer system development and modification.
  • Basic knowledge of capabilities and intricacies of information systems.
  • Ability to understand and carry out basic technical instructions and requests.
  • Basic ability to analyze and reduce to logical order complex technical data.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work effectively with users, vendors, and other IT personnel.
  • Ability to assist with identifying and resolving problems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work in an environment with incarcerated youth.
