About the position

The Information System Engineer II role at Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma focuses on administering compute and storage systems to ensure the reliable operation of the organization's IT infrastructure. This position involves managing enterprise storage, virtualization hardware, and server operating systems while ensuring data security and system performance. The engineer will report to the Information Systems Manager and will be responsible for various tasks related to data storage management, system security, and performance stability.

Responsibilities

  • Administer compute and storage systems to ensure operation of Choctaw Nation systems.
  • Manage enterprise storage arrays, fiber channel switches, and Network Attached Storage (NAS).
  • Oversee virtualization hardware, physical servers, and hosted systems.
  • Lead tasks related to data storage management, security, backup, restoration, archiving, and replication.
  • Ensure systems performance and stability.
  • Administer server operating systems, including Windows Server 2008, 2012+, and Redhat Linux.
  • Configure and maintain Windows Active Directory environments.
  • Maintain and configure enterprise-wide VMware environments.
  • Apply company procedures to resolve issues promptly.
  • Analyze situational data to resolve issues or follow escalation chain.
  • Coordinate maintenance schedule and notifications with internal IT teams.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or professional IT certification or 4 years related experience.
  • Ability to perform complex tasks.
  • Experience managing and troubleshooting system infrastructure based on best practices.
  • Working knowledge of server operating systems, active directory, and VMware.
  • Must be comfortable working in an accountable and maintain flexible working hours.
  • 3 years' experience supporting important IT infrastructure.
