About the position

The Information System Security Engineer position is focused on ensuring the security of computer networks through various responsibilities including testing, implementing, maintaining, and administering systems required for computer network defense (CND). The role is based in Northern Virginia and requires a TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and at least 5 years of relevant experience in the field.

Responsibilities

• Test, implement, maintain, and administer systems required for computer network defense (CND)
• Manage access control list on specialized CND systems
• Perform system administration on specialized CND applications and systems
• Manage and administer rules and signatures for specialized CND applications
• Administer the CND test bed and evaluate new CND technologies, applications, and configurations

Requirements

• Good communications skills
• Significant experience with at least one major CND tools or systems, e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS systems, proxy servers, one-way transfer systems, content filters, load balancers, etc.
• Security certifications in accordance with DODI 8570 and level of responsibility (Security + as a minimum)

Nice-to-haves

• Certifications: CISSP, CASP, and CEH
• Strong system administration skills
• Microsoft, Linux, Router and Switching, VMware certifications valued
• Experience with PKI
• Experience with multiple CND tools and systems
• Familiarity with ICD 503 and customer security and systems engineering processes
