About The Position

The Security Engineer position at Parsons involves providing guidance and support to ensure the implementation of IT security standards for both developing and deployed systems. Requirements

• Active TS/SCI security clearance.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a CI POLY.
• Minimum of 5 years security engineering experience.
• Experience in applying NIST Special Publication 800-53 Risk Management Framework.
• Certified in a DOD 8570 IAM Level II baseline certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance, assistance, and coordination to systems developers, systems administrators, and other IT specialists to ensure verified and timely implementation of IT security standards.
• Document, manage, and control the integrity of changes to all systems security documentation, including standard operating procedures and user guides.
• Assist in the selection of minimum-security controls to establish a baseline of measures to prevent security breaches and document them in the security plan and Risk Assessment Report.
• Conduct security testing and verify the correct implementation of security controls, ensuring they operate as intended.
• Conduct remedial actions on security controls based on findings from the Security Assessment Report and reassess remediated controls as appropriate.
• Review vulnerability scans and ensure accountable parties respond appropriately to findings, troubleshooting security threats and vulnerabilities.
• Monitor and analyze systems logs daily to identify security trends and assess the effectiveness of installed systems.
• Participate in multi-functional teams and manage work through JIRA.
