About the position
The Information Systems Manager is responsible for overseeing and directing the activities, programs, and strategies of the Information Systems Department in Eagle Mountain City. This role involves planning, directing, organizing, and controlling the processes necessary for efficient computer operations throughout the city. The manager will ensure the security and implementation of computer systems and networks, develop departmental policies, and manage the budget while providing support and training to staff.
Responsibilities
- Oversees and directs all activities, programs, and strategy of the Information Systems Department.
- Directs the design, programming, security, and implementation of new and existing computer systems and networks.
- Develops, implements, and reviews departmental policies and procedures.
- Ensures appropriate documentation of departmental activities and reviews daily logs and reports.
- Prepares and submits a timely and accurate departmental budget and administers it throughout the fiscal year.
- Consults with hardware/software vendors to resolve computer processing issues.
- Provides support as an in-house expert for various software applications.
- Coordinates regular security trainings and assessments of training effectiveness.
- Assembles and directs the I.S. team or contractors to work across all levels of the organization.
- Plans, directs, and participates in the design, programming, testing, and maintenance of complex computer application systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems and Technology, or a closely related field.
- Minimum five (5) years of professional level experience in computer applications, including programming and software analysis.
- Considerable knowledge of modern methods and best practices of complex computer systems analysis and data management.
- Skill in analyzing data and developing logical solutions to complex issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Nice-to-haves
- Previous experience in a municipal government setting.
