About the position

The Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) is responsible for managing the protection of RAND's classified information. This role involves implementing security policies, procedures, and government requirements related to classified systems. The ISSM serves as a subject matter expert, ensuring compliance with regulations and conducting security education briefings. The position requires oversight of classified systems activities and collaboration with various government agencies to maintain secure operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the process to protect RAND's classified information.
  • Implement classified security policies and procedures as required by the U.S. Government.
  • Ensure staff compliance with applicable government regulations.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for classified systems security questions.
  • Perform oversight administration of classified systems activities.
  • Support the Facility Security Officer (FSO) in maintaining secure facility accreditations.
  • Write and conduct classified systems security education briefings.
  • Maintain detailed records of Security & Classified Operations for monthly reports.
  • Conduct classified security investigations as required.
  • Implement security controls for RAND systems processing classified information.
  • Coordinate with the Defense Intelligence Agency and other U.S. intelligence community elements on inspections and investigations.
  • Responsible for the classified computing protection program at various security levels.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; BS/BA degree preferred.
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience required; 9 years preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of Industrial Security and regulations associated with classified programs.
  • Familiarity with systems accreditation processes with multiple government agencies.
  • Established relationships with industrial and government security counterparts.
  • Understanding of principles for maintaining a compliant classified security program.
  • Thorough knowledge of information security systems and classified networks.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD 8570.01-M IAM level 2 certification within 6 months.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with NIST standards.
  • Valid TS/SCI license.
  • Valid GSLC certification.
