About the position

The Information System Security Officer (ISSO) is responsible for maintaining the operational security posture of information systems, collaborating closely with the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) and Information Security Officer (ISO). This role involves managing security operations, ensuring compliance with security protocols, and supporting Special Access Programs (SAPs) for Department of Defense (DoD) agencies. The ISSO will oversee daily security operations, incident handling, and security training, while also preparing and reviewing authorization packages and conducting periodic system reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the operational security posture is maintained for information systems.
  • Collaborate with the ISSM and ISO on security operations.
  • Manage day-to-day security operations of information systems.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of information systems for compliance.
  • Prepare, review, and update authorization packages.
  • Monitor system recovery processes to ensure security features are functioning correctly.
  • Ensure all IS security-related documentation is current and accessible.
  • Attend required technical and security training relevant to assigned duties.
  • Identify cyber security vulnerabilities and assist with countermeasures implementation.
  • Prepare reports on the status of security safeguards applied to computer systems.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of related experience in information security.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience (4 years).
  • IAT Level II certification required to start (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security).
  • Top Secret/SCI clearance required to start.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Special Access Programs (SAPs).
  • Certifications such as CCNA Security, GICSP, and GSEC.
