About the position

The Information Systems Specialist position is a vital role within the City of Rocky Mount, responsible for coordinating and managing technology projects to ensure they are completed on schedule and efficiently. This position reports directly to the Information Technology Project Manager, who assigns work in terms of division goals and objectives. The specialist will liaise with project stakeholders concerning details and deliverables, assist in the planning and implementation of projects, and coordinate and manage project tasks and deliverables. Additionally, the role involves organizing and maintaining project documents, updating databases, managing budgets, preparing estimates and invoices, and setting up meetings, phone calls, and site visits. Analyzing data, researching information, and tracking and reporting project progress are also key responsibilities of this position. The specialist may perform other related duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of technology initiatives within the city.

Responsibilities

  • Liaising with project stakeholders concerning details and deliverables.
  • Assisting in the planning and implementation of projects.
  • Coordinating and managing project tasks and deliverables.
  • Organizing and maintaining project documents, updating databases, managing budgets, preparing estimates and invoices, and setting up meetings, phone calls, and site visits.
  • Analyzing data, researching information, and tracking and reporting project progress.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of an associate degree (baccalaureate preferred) in a course of study related to the occupational field.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for two (2) or more years.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
