About the position

The Information Systems Specialist I - Business Analysis role at the Illinois Secretary of State is responsible for identifying business needs and determining solutions to enhance organizational operations. This position involves collaborating with stakeholders to define requirements, improve processes, and implement system enhancements, ensuring that the developed solutions meet business needs.

Responsibilities

• Engage with stakeholders to understand their objectives and pain points.
• Facilitate workshops and meetings to gather and document detailed business requirements.
• Analyze and model data to create specifications for the development team.
• Conduct reviews of existing business processes to identify inefficiencies.
• Propose process improvements and system enhancements based on analytical thinking.
• Lead reviews of business processes and develop optimization strategies.
• Perform requirements analysis and communicate results to team members and management.
• Guide user acceptance testing to ensure solutions meet business needs.
• Serve as a liaison between stakeholders and users.

Requirements

• Completion of two years of college coursework in computer science or related field.
• 2.5 years of technical systems and/or programming experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Working knowledge of systems design and implementation.
• Ability to analyze data logically and present results clearly.
• Understanding of methods and tools for conducting feasibility studies for computer applications.
• Ability to adhere to organizational standards for security, privacy, and ethics.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in IT project management.
• Knowledge of data capturing devices and communication methods.
