The Information Systems Support Specialist plays a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, and general support of information systems within the healthcare environment. This position is responsible for assisting users with their inquiries and problems, ensuring that systems are functioning optimally. The specialist will also be involved in performing system backups and recovery, as well as installing new software to enhance operational efficiency. The role requires a proactive approach to technology, advocating for the Information Systems Department and staying updated with current technological advancements. In addition to technical support, the specialist will manage the systems support group, developing and conducting training sessions for staff to ensure they are proficient in using the systems. This includes supporting the main Local Area Network (LAN) and NT servers while coordinating with vendors to resolve any issues that may arise. The specialist will also administer and maintain various servers, including web pages, email servers, and disaster recovery/SQL servers, ensuring that all data is secure and backed up appropriately. The position requires a high degree of knowledge in current technology trends and practices, as well as the ability to provide technical consulting to hospital management and staff. Training users in non-Meditech applications is also a key responsibility, ensuring that all personnel are equipped to utilize the systems effectively. This role is essential in maintaining the integrity and functionality of the hospital's information systems, ultimately contributing to improved patient care and operational efficiency.
