About the position

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) is seeking an Information Technology (IT) Analyst to join the Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) department. This position is crucial in examining and determining the reasonableness and prudence of IT and cybersecurity investments that impact utility operations and the customers who rely on these services. The IT Analyst will engage in various IT areas of analysis, including the implementation of hardware and software that facilitate utility operations, customer platforms, cloud computing, and cybersecurity protections that affect Michigan's utility ratepayers. In this role, the IT Analyst will provide essential IT analysis to the Customer Assistance Division and the MPSC Commissioners. Responsibilities include reviewing rate case applications and related literature that address the technical functionality of IT systems. The analyst will also assist in monitoring procedures, guidelines, and policies that are foundational to successful critical infrastructure cyber protection. Additionally, the IT Analyst will conduct research and provide testimony on customer data privacy and energy usage data accessibility, ensuring that the interests of Michigan's utility customers are safeguarded. Responsibilities

  • Examine and determine the reasonableness and prudence of IT and cybersecurity investments affecting utility operations.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
  • One year of professional experience for Departmental Analyst 10.
  • Two years of professional experience for Departmental Analyst P11, including one year at the intermediate (10) level in state service.
  • Three years of professional experience for Departmental Analyst 12, including one year at the experienced (P11) level in state service.
  • High school diploma or GED for Departmental Analyst (Departmental Trainee) 9.

Nice-to-haves
