About the position

The Information Technology Auditor position, available at both Associate and Senior levels, focuses on enhancing information security and technology operations within state government. The role involves conducting audits to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of IT systems while ensuring compliance with industry standards. Auditors will analyze various aspects of state computer systems, identify potential risks, and provide recommendations to state agencies. This position offers opportunities for professional growth and a variety of challenging assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Assessing the risks to various state programs and systems and evaluating the controls in place to mitigate those risks
  • Conducting individual and group interviews with state agencies
  • Analyzing agency technology policies and practices
  • Extracting and examining database information
  • Evaluating information technology controls
  • Conducting automated systems testing
  • Analyzing compliance with associated laws, rules, policies, industry standards, and relevant best practices
  • Documenting analysis and findings in audit workpapers
  • Composing summaries and conclusions for audit work
  • Writing reports and presenting results to agency personnel and legislative committees
  • Actively pursuing certifications and continuing professional education.

Requirements

  • 0-3 years of relevant experience for Associate level; 2-5 years for Senior level
  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, public administration, mathematics, business, management, or related field; or a relevant two-year technical degree
  • Direct work experience as an information security analyst, information systems/technology auditor, or equivalent position for Senior level
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to gather and analyze information to support decisions and opinions
  • Clear communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Successful conflict resolution skills
  • Self-initiative and self-motivation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in information security or auditing
  • Coursework in information systems auditing
  • Experience with data analysis software
  • Knowledge of IT control frameworks
  • Quantitative analysis skills.
