About the position
The Information Technology (Cyber Security) Adjunct position at Tidewater Community College involves teaching courses in Cyber Security to students with diverse academic backgrounds. The role requires planning, organizing, and delivering instruction in various formats, including in-person, remote, and online. The adjunct faculty member is responsible for creating an engaging learning environment, providing timely feedback, and supporting student success through effective communication and office hours.
Responsibilities
- Create a learning environment that facilitates students' acquisition of knowledge and skills in Cyber Security.
- Align course activities with student learning outcomes and employ active learning strategies to foster engagement.
- Deliver instruction in support of stated learning outcomes and conduct meaningful assessments of student learning.
- Hold at least one office hour per week for each credit course assigned.
- Engage with students outside of class and provide thorough feedback on their progress.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in the teaching field or an associate's degree with demonstrated competency in Cyber Security.
- Minimum of two years of work experience in Cyber Security.
- Ability to demonstrate the use of relevant technology and learning management systems for teaching and assessment.
- Commitment to student engagement in the online teaching environment.
Nice-to-haves
- Teaching experience at the college level.
- Knowledge of CANVAS or other learning management systems.
- Experience with proven teaching strategies that promote student success.
