About the position
The IT Generalist Administrator 1 position at Bedford-Somerset DBHS is an advanced technical role responsible for overseeing and supporting all areas of information technology within the agency. The role involves implementing changes to IT services through a holistic approach, focusing on people, processes, and technology. The administrator will manage the agency's Management Information Systems (MIS) Technology Department, ensuring effective application development, network administration, and IT support while maintaining compliance with security standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide oversight and supervision of the Agency's Management Information Systems (MIS) Technology Department.
- Manage applications and business process development in a complex system.
- Oversee networking, database administration, and IT support functions.
- Plan and direct software development and support for voice communication systems.
- Direct the installation and support of in-house programmed software and state-issued applications.
- Coordinate MIS project development and system enhancement efforts.
- Provide direction to IT Service Provider technicians as needed.
- Plan and implement organizational training schedules and curriculum for agency users.
- Collaborate with the Executive Administrative Team on policy changes and budget development.
- Facilitate committees to identify problems and enhance existing systems.
- Conduct time studies, research, and report findings to improve IT services.
- Ensure data security and compliance with HIPAA requirements.
- Monitor IT equipment inventory and recommend hardware and software purchases.
- Supervise IT staff on a day-to-day basis.
Requirements
- One year as an Information Technology Generalist 2 (LG) or equivalent role.
- Five years of IT experience with two years in technical roles related to applications development, network operation, or database maintenance.
- Three years of IT experience with an associate's degree in an IT field and two years in technical roles.
- One year of technical IT experience with a bachelor's degree in an IT field.
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
