About the position

The Information Technology (IT) Cloud Engineer IV at Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) plays a pivotal role in leading the development of a cloud platform technology framework. This position is integral to providing technical architecture and design leadership that supports IT initiatives in cloud computing and automation across the HMH network. The engineer is responsible for ensuring that critical cloud applications are designed for reliability, high availability, and disaster recovery. This role encompasses a wide range of activities necessary for designing, implementing, maintaining, and continuously automating a large, complex cloud-based computing environment. The IT Cloud Engineer IV will provide technical guidance to team members and serve as a liaison between internal departments when necessary. The position requires the utilization of best practices for management, architecture, configuration, disaster recovery, administration, and automation of the enterprise server virtualization environment with cloud technologies. These activities are crucial for creating new infrastructure and environments that will support HMH's growth and the adoption of broad cloud and automation goals. This position is almost entirely remote, and candidates with experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) are particularly sought after. The role involves providing technical guidance for the design and implementation of new cloud platform architecture and automation technologies, as well as maintaining existing cloud and automation systems. The engineer will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for cloud, automation, and end-to-end architecture for Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions. The engineer will also work closely with other teams to develop and promote cloud-native application architectures, maintain industry knowledge on the latest trends, and advocate for the cloud architecture vision from a strategic perspective. This includes designing, configuring, implementing, and supporting a fully automated workflow for provisioning and maintaining a complex, highly available cloud environment using infrastructure as code. The engineer will also be responsible for enabling DevOps development activities and participating in cloud computing environment build-outs, software installation, maintenance, and support.
