As the second-largest independent Catholic university in New England, Sacred Heart University is seeking an IT Project Manager to oversee and manage IT projects from inception to completion. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to strict deadlines and within budget constraints. This role involves acquiring resources for a cross-functional team and coordinating the efforts of team members, stakeholders, and third-party consultants to ensure project delivery aligns with the established objectives. The IT Project Manager will assist in defining project objectives, oversee quality control, and maintain effective communication throughout the project life cycle. The IT Project Manager will manage the project lifecycle, which includes developing project plans, determining resource requirements, and implementing change management processes. They will also be responsible for risk and issue management, tracking key milestones, and ensuring that communication mechanisms and status reporting are in place. The role requires the development, direction, and evaluation of assigned projects, as well as the identification and coordination of technology project teams that require collaboration across multiple departments. Regularly scheduled team meetings will be led by the IT Project Manager to discuss project progress, milestones, and any risks that may necessitate adjustments to project workloads. The successful candidate will implement IT strategies that ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget, taking ownership of technical, business, and strategic project decisions. Flexibility and creativity in addressing both internal and external challenges are essential, as is the ability to recognize tasks at hand and respond effectively in a timely manner. The IT Project Manager will also consult with management to modify project and business processes to enhance delivery and identify areas for improvement in project and business service delivery. Building trust-based relationships within the university community to resolve issues and develop strategies and solutions is a key aspect of this role.
