About the position

The Information Technology (IT) Manager at Covenant House Alaska is responsible for overseeing the agency's comprehensive information technology program. This role involves developing and implementing strategic plans for information systems, ensuring effective use of technology, and managing IT operations including hardware, software, and security systems. The IT Manager will lead the IT function, establish procedures, maintain the IT network architecture, and ensure information security across all technology-related activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Information Technology function for Covenant House Alaska, including hardware, software, AV systems, phones, and security systems.
  • Establish procedures for IT Department support, including onboarding, security, training, updates, patches, and change management.
  • Set standards for hardware, software, and services, including basic configurations for new users.
  • Execute and extend IT strategy, including project plans, time schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Maintain the Agency's 3 Year IT Roadmap and IT network architecture.
  • Ensure all technology systems and hardware are up to date and secure.
  • Develop and implement IT policies, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with IT vendors and contractors.
  • Manage the Agency's hardware replacement schedule within budget.
  • Provide recommendations for plans and budgets based on assessed needs.
  • Ensure information security in all IT and mobile communications activities.
  • Provide computer hardware, training, support, and troubleshooting to staff as needed.
  • Coordinate and schedule training for staff in technology use.
  • Oversee network administration, backup, and security protocols.
  • Develop a business continuity plan and disaster recovery strategy in coordination with the Agency's Emergency Action Plan.
  • Supervise IT interns, including interviewing, training, and task assignment.
  • Participate in the budgeting process and manage requisition of IT supplies.
  • Support special programs/events regarding technological needs and participate in committees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business with an emphasis in Information Technology or a related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience with advanced level information technology systems or equivalent experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with standard computer operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to implement IT best practices within the infrastructure.
  • Ability to assess situations, analyze data, and consider risks before making decisions.
  • Current and valid Driver's License with a good driving record.

  • Experience with information security and compliance regulations.
  • Knowledge of child protection policies and HIPAA compliance.
  • Experience in negotiating with management and vendors.
