About the position

The IT Manager at Hayward Lumber is a hands-on leadership role responsible for implementing and managing technology solutions that align with the company's business objectives in the lumber and building materials industry. This position requires a deep understanding of industry-specific technologies and a commitment to optimizing operations, enhancing customer experience, and driving innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain IT systems, including hardware, software, networks, and data centers.
  • Identify and implement emerging technologies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Provide end-user support by diagnosing and resolving complex IT issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Leverage data analytics to provide insights for strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop technology solutions that meet their needs.
  • Negotiate and manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers.
  • Manage IT staff by recruiting, training, and coaching employees; set and manage performance expectations.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the IT department.
  • Manage the department budget to ensure cost-effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Master's degree in a related field preferred.
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in IT leadership roles, preferably in the lumber and building materials industry.
  • Proven track record of implementing and managing complex IT systems.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, network security, and data management principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Passion for technology and a desire to stay current with industry trends.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ERP systems, supply chain management software, and CRM tools.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific technologies and trends, such as IoT, AI, and blockchain.
  • Certifications in IT management or security (e.g., CISSP, CISM, ITIL).
