About the position

The Information Technology Officer (Chief Information Security Officer) position is a critical role within the Information Technology and Systems Department, specifically in the Infrastructure Division 1. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining the Judiciary's information security program, ensuring that all information systems are secure, functional, and compliant with regulatory requirements. The CISO will identify, evaluate, and report on information security risks, aligning these with the Judiciary's risk posture. This role requires proactive collaboration with other divisions and Judiciary programs to implement security practices that adhere to defined policies and standards. As the Chief Information Security Officer, the incumbent will oversee various IT-related risk management activities, lead the development and implementation of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, and support the Director of the Information Technology and Systems Department in assurance activities related to the integrity and confidentiality of information. The CISO will work closely with senior management to determine acceptable levels of risk for the organization, ensuring that the information security program is robust and effective. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the business environment and the complexities of information technology systems. They will be expected to manage a team, provide guidance on complex issues, and ensure that the Judiciary's information security policies are upheld. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and report on information security risks to meet compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and implement practices that align with defined policies and standards for information security.
  • Oversee IT-related risk management activities and ensure effective risk mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Support the Director of the Information Technology and Systems Department in assurance activities related to information security policies.
  • Collaborate with senior management to determine acceptable levels of risk for the organization.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the business environment to ensure information systems are secure and functional.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Three and a half years of experience in management, development, evaluation, and production support in information technology.
  • Two years of Staff Specialist or Supervisory Experience in information technology management.
  • At least five years of professional cybersecurity experience within the required experience.
  • Two years of Information Technology team lead experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in computer science, management information science, information technology, or a related discipline.
  • Ph.D. in computer science, management information science, information technology, or a related discipline.
