About the position

The Information Technology Product Technician I position is a vital role within the technology department, primarily focused on ensuring the functionality and readiness of various devices used in educational settings. Under the supervision of the Information Technology Product Supervisor or their designee, the technician will be responsible for validating device functionality, staging and kitting devices, applying necessary accessories, and performing device manipulations. This role requires adherence to written work instructions to configure devices according to specific requirements, ensuring that all devices are prepared for use in a timely and efficient manner. In addition to the technical aspects of the job, the technician will also be expected to instruct and coordinate with personnel, facilitating communication and collaboration among team members. This may involve training staff on device usage or troubleshooting issues as they arise. The technician will perform related and non-related work as required, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the technology department. The position demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, as the technician will need to analyze data, evaluate user needs, and develop alternative solutions to address any challenges encountered. The ability to prioritize and organize work effectively is crucial, as the technician will be working under deadlines and timetables to ensure that all devices are ready for deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Validate device functionality and ensure devices are operational.
  • Stage and kit devices according to specifications.
  • Apply device accessories and perform necessary device manipulations.
  • Follow written work instructions to configure devices accurately.
  • Instruct and coordinate with personnel regarding device usage and troubleshooting.
  • Package and handle devices safely and accurately, ensuring proper application of accessories.
  • Analyze data and evaluate user needs to develop alternative solutions to problems.
  • Prioritize and organize work to meet deadlines and timetables.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • One (1) year of experience in staging, kitting, and configuration of devices or setup and repair of networked computer workstations, smartphones, and other smart devices is preferred.
  • Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot networked computer workstations, systems, and programs used in educational and administrative areas.
  • Proficiency in installing and configuring computer components such as cards and drives.
  • Ability to fabricate and connect interface cables and connections between computers.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate user needs and develop solutions.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply complex technical information, including equipment and network diagrams.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with a diverse group of people.
