About the position

The Agency of Digital Services (ADS) is seeking a Project Manager to join ADS's Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) as a Project Manager level I. This position is designed for individuals who are at the entry level of project management within the Vermont State Government. The role involves performing project management tasks under the guidance of a senior-level team member, focusing on technology-related projects. The Project Manager will coordinate with information technology (IT) staff, subject matter experts (SMEs), and program leaders to plan, organize, implement, and enhance information systems and services for the State of Vermont. The responsibilities include creating and documenting project work plans that encompass scope, schedule, and cost, and making revisions as necessary. The Project Manager will identify and coordinate resource assignments, ensuring that the resource plan aligns with the overall project goals and schedule. Daily project aspects will be monitored and controlled, and the Project Manager will review vendor deliverables to ensure they meet requirements, recommending acceptance or rework as needed. Additionally, the role involves developing risk mitigation plans, managing project documentation, and performing earned value management calculations to track team hours, project progress, and expenses. This position operates within a standard office setting, with a standard work schedule of Monday through Friday, from 7:45 am to 4:30 pm, allowing for some flexibility and potential telework for residents of Vermont. The position is classified as Limited Service, meaning it is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period, typically for specially funded projects or programs. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and provide project management support for technology-related projects.
  • Work with IT staff, SMEs, and program leaders to enhance information systems and services.
  • Create and document project work plans, including scope, schedule, and cost.
  • Identify and coordinate resource assignments to ensure project goals are met.
  • Monitor and control day-to-day project aspects of one or more projects.
  • Review vendor deliverables for consistency with requirements and recommend acceptance or rework.
  • Develop and vet risk mitigation plans.
  • Manage project documentation, including version control and project records.
  • Perform earned value management calculations and reporting by tracking team hours, project progress, and expenses.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years or more of experience in the field of information technology.
  • One (1) year or more of experience where the primary role was project manager.
