The Information Technology Project Manager I position at the Los Angeles County Department of Human Resources is a critical role that involves planning, managing, and leading the execution of information technology projects of smaller scale and/or limited complexity and risk. Under general supervision, the incumbent will provide technical leadership and coordination to a project team as needed. This position is the first working level in the Information Technology Project Manager Series, typically reporting to an IT supervisor or manager. The role requires a solid understanding of information technology and programmatic knowledge to effectively oversee project progress and results. The projects assigned to this position are usually well-defined in scope, associated with one line of business or operational function, and have limited systems integration. They are generally non-essential to continued County operations and services. The incumbent will utilize various techniques, methods, and tools of information technology project management to ensure successful project execution. Responsibilities include managing all aspects of project execution, including budget and funding outlays, resources, schedule, staff performance, risks, and quality control. In addition to project management duties, the Information Technology Project Manager I will collaborate with project stakeholders to define project scope and performance measures, develop business cases, and establish project charters. The role also involves preparing status reports and updates for internal and external stakeholders, facilitating problem resolution, and leading project close-out activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships with team members, management, and stakeholders, and will actively participate in developing solicitations for contracted services as needed.
