About the position

The IT Project Manager (PM) at Utah Transit Authority will be responsible for leading and overseeing IT projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered within scope, on time, and within budget. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and effective management of stakeholders to ensure successful execution of projects that align with business goals and objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT project management, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of delivering IT projects successfully. Familiarity with PMBOK principles and practices is essential, as well as an understanding of both Agile and Waterfall management methodologies and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The IT PM will manage various technology projects, including application development, enterprise application upgrades, network infrastructure installations, and system hardware upgrades. Working within the IT Project Management Office (PMO), the IT PM will lead project teams to achieve objectives and meet stakeholder expectations. Responsibilities also include participating in the creation and execution of Requests For Proposals (RFP) and other procurement processes in collaboration with the Procurement department. The IT PM will take direction from PMO leadership and may receive mentorship from a Senior IT PM.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee IT projects from initiation to completion.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within scope, on time, and within budget.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholders effectively.
  • Manage multiple project teams with matrixed resources simultaneously.
  • Participate in the creation and execution of Requests For Proposals (RFP) and other procurement types.
  • Work within the IT Project Management Office (PMO) to achieve project objectives.
  • Take direction from PMO leadership and may be mentored by a Senior IT PM.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical certification from an accredited college or university.
  • 1-2 years of experience managing successful technology delivery projects (small to medium size).
  • Experience leading project teams with at least 2 project team members.
  • Experience in dealing with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Visio or Lucid Chart.

Nice-to-haves

  • OnePlan experience is a plus.
  • Scrum Master certification preferred.
  • Experience developing, installing, or managing the installation of network infrastructure and/or enterprise information systems/software.
  • Experience with surveillance cameras, point-of-sale terminals, and/or digital signage systems.
  • Experience with onboard bus/rail technology solutions such as radio, transit management, or fare collection systems.
