About the position

The IT Project Manager at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) will oversee specialized application development teams focused on Artificial Intelligence projects. This role is situated within the Portfolio & Project Management division of the Information Technology Services Directorate, requiring a strong background in project management and IT systems. The position involves direct interaction with various stakeholders, including senior management and external vendors, to ensure successful project delivery aligned with ORNL's mission.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of information security projects utilizing industry standard best practices.
  • Interact directly with the Chief Information Office (CIO) and various organizational levels.
  • Determine project management methodology requirements and develop project plans.
  • Assemble and direct project teams to achieve project goals and deliverables.
  • Ensure timely delivery of projects within scope and budget, maintaining quality standards.
  • Implement communication plans to keep stakeholders informed of project status.
  • Identify and manage project risks and issues, proposing mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and present reports, dashboards, and recommendations regarding project matters.

Requirements

  • A BS degree in computer science, business management, information technology, project management, or a related field.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant project management experience.
  • Proven understanding of IT platforms, systems, and tools, specifically ML Ops and AI Pipelines.
  • Demonstrated experience in IT project work and major infrastructure deployments.
  • Knowledge of application software development and lifecycle processes such as Agile.
  • Thorough understanding of project management methodologies and practical application.

Nice-to-haves

  • An advanced degree in a related field.
  • Project Management Professional certification.
  • Experience with IT specific project management methods, such as Agile.
  • Information security or cyber security experience and certifications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Project, and Atlassian tools.
