About the position

The IT Project Manager will oversee specialized application development teams at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, focusing on Artificial Intelligence projects. This role involves managing a portfolio of information security projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope and budget, while fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including senior management and external vendors, to achieve project goals and align with ORNL's mission.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of information security projects utilizing industry standard best practices.
  • Interact directly with the Chief Information Office (CIO) and various levels within the organization.
  • Determine project management methodology for multiple projects and develop project plans.
  • Assemble, manage, and direct project teams to accomplish project goals and deliverables.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget, and are of acceptable quality.
  • Develop and execute communication plans to keep stakeholders informed of project status.
  • Identify, diagnose, and consult on project risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and present reports and dashboards on project matters.

Requirements

  • A BS degree in computer science, business management, information technology, project management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of relevant project management experience.
  • Proven understanding of IT platforms, systems, and tools, specifically ML Ops, AI Pipelines, CI/CD.
  • Demonstrated practical experience in IT project work, applications development, and major infrastructure/technology deployments.
  • Knowledge and experience managing application software development and/or implementation projects utilizing best practice lifecycle processes such as Agile.
  • Thorough understanding of project management methodologies and practical application managing IT projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • An advanced degree in computer science, business management, information technology, project management, or a related field.
  • Project Management Professional certification.
  • Experience with IT specific project management methods, such as Agile.
  • Information security or cyber security experience, education and/or certifications.
  • Strong communicator at all levels of an organization.
