About the position

The Information Technology Specialist 4 - Business Analyst position at Minnesota State Colleges and Universities is designed to ensure that the business needs of faculty, staff, administrators, and students across the 33 colleges and universities in the Minnesota State system are understood and documented. This role involves collaborating with campus and system office staff to analyze and recommend IT solutions that align with the operational goals of the system, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct business analysis with stakeholders to gather, document, and manage requirements for enterprise applications.
• Manage and coordinate IT solution development to ensure alignment with the needs of faculty, staff, administrators, and students.
• Collaborate with business partners to model current and desired future states, identifying improvement opportunities and technology gaps.

Requirements

• 5 years of business analysis experience working directly with business lines.
• Knowledge of project management principles to determine project goals and objectives.
• Demonstrated business analyst skills to elicit and analyze business requirements.
• Business process modeling skills to deliver software solutions that meet end user needs.
• Presentation and facilitation experience to interact with a broad range of stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor’s degree in business, information technology or a related field.
• ITIL Foundations certification.
• 1 year experience in an Agile/Iterative software development environment.
• 1 year experience in public sector or higher education environments.
• Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) certification.
