About the position

The Information Technology Specialist 2 Programming (NY HELPs) position is responsible for various assignments related to Quality Assurance, Drupal Site Building, Operational Website Support, and other roles within web development and support. The role is situated within the Digital Transformation Office, specifically in the Digital Experience and WebNY Website Services. The specialist will perform tasks such as QA testing, Drupal site building, operational support for websites, and act as a product owner for web development projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Quality Assurance testing on Jira stories for web development sprints.
  • Complete pre-launch and periodic post-launch website reviews.
  • Perform QA testing of all website development and updates to fulfill ITSM service requests.
  • Perform a variety of Drupal site builder tasks including configuring menus, taxonomy, uploading documents, establishing entity references, page creation, administering user security permissions and configuring modules.
  • Complete in the content migration process for websites moving to Drupal site factory or single instance platforms.
  • Build Drupal Front-End Development and Theming using front-end web technologies, including HTML, CSS, PHP and JS.
  • Debug and resolve Drupal-related issues and errors.
  • Regularly check for updates to contributed modules and complete needed updates and Security Patching.
  • Provide ongoing operational support and maintenance for Drupal and HTML websites.
  • Utilize ITSM to manage incoming work requests and thoroughly document development work.
  • Create User stories, document requirements, and specifications for website development using Jira.
  • Conduct and participate in development planning and prioritization, coordinate development schedules and projections.
  • Prepare monthly Google Analytic billing reports used to bill agencies for website support.
  • Review the weekly security vulnerabilities report and communicate and track remediation of security vulnerabilities.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science.
  • A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and one year of experience in information technology.
  • 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science and one year of professional experience in information technology.
  • Two years of professional experience in information technology.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Agile methodology.
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics and Site Improve administration.
  • Experience in accessibility practices for web development.
