About the position

The Information Technology Specialist (Audio Visual) position at the U.S. Department of State's Foreign Service Institute (FSI) is a critical role focused on the design, installation, and operation of audiovisual systems. The incumbent will ensure the security and compliance of information assets, lead interdisciplinary teams, and manage complex audiovisual projects to support the training services of the FSI. This position requires a strong background in audiovisual technologies and systems security, as well as the ability to conduct risk assessments and provide effective solutions to security vulnerabilities.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and track compliance for the protection of information assets across FSI.
• Conduct root cause analysis to identify improvement opportunities when failures occur.
• Perform risk analysis and assessments on existing and proposed systems, documenting findings and recommending security safeguards.
• Evaluate custom-built and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) application software for security vulnerabilities and provide results to technical staff and management.
• Ensure compliance of security configurations for IT systems and develop clear processes for implementation and enforcement.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Experience as a subject matter expert in major audiovisual systems design, installation, and operation projects related to audiovisual technologies.
• Proven ability to design, develop, and customize complex audiovisual hardware systems, networks, and software programs.
• Experience in evaluating systems security issues for audiovisual system development projects and recommending effective solutions.
• Ability to lead interdisciplinary teams in complex engineering and administrative activities.
• Skilled in developing comprehensive project plans that define the scope of tasks and set milestones.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with cybersecurity vulnerabilities mitigation in audiovisual systems.
• Knowledge of information security concepts, standards, and methods.
