About the position

The Information Technology Specialist (Information Security) position at Naval Base, Norfolk, VA, involves overseeing the Navy Marine Corps Intranet and other military networks, ensuring compliance with hardware and software requirements, and managing Communication Security (COMSEC) materials. The role requires coordination with various department heads and entails responsibilities related to network operations, security clearances, and technical support within the Department of Defense.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) and other military networks.
  • Coordinate with department heads to satisfy hardware/software requirements.
  • Manage the receipt, storage, shipment, and destruction of COMSEC keying material.
  • Maintain a complete allowance of CMS materials for command and LE custodians.
  • Serve as an alternate payroll manager in accordance with SLDCADA.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance.
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Must have COMPTIA SECURITY PLUS certification.
  • Education in computer science, engineering, or related fields with relevant coursework.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in submarine-related IT operations.
  • Familiarity with DOD, DON, NCMS, and CMIO publications.
