About the position

The Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC) position within the Internal Revenue Service focuses on leading the implementation of security programs to minimize system vulnerabilities and ensure the integrity of IT systems. Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of security programs to minimize system vulnerabilities.
  • Review proposed new systems, networks, and software designs for potential security risks.
  • Provide authoritative advice on disaster recovery and business continuity.
  • Develop contingency plans for IT systems to ensure resource availability during emergencies.
  • Create long-range plans for IT security systems to mitigate risks.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Experience in Information Technology (IT) demonstrating attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem-solving.
  • For GS-13: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12 level in the Federal service.
  • For GS-14: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-13 level in the Federal service.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with security programs across multiple platforms.
  • Knowledge of IRS-wide guidelines for IT security.
