About the position

Meta is seeking a Technical Program Manager (TPM) with a strong background in hardware development and sustainability to lead initiatives aimed at achieving Net Zero emissions across our value chain by 2030. This role is pivotal in defining and implementing programs focused on reducing datacenter hardware value chain emissions (Scope 3). The TPM will collaborate closely with various teams, including Meta's Net Zero, Sourcing, Hardware Engineering, Fleet Sustaining, Datacenter Operations, Finance, and Capacity Planning teams, to set ambitious goals, create effective strategies, and execute plans that drive significant reductions in emissions. The responsibilities of this position encompass program management support for cross-functional teams, addressing critical topics such as greenhouse gas emissions accounting, reporting, and forecasting. The TPM will also spearhead emissions reduction initiatives, which include design optimization, circularity, and re-use programs. A successful candidate will leverage their expertise in datacenter hardware design and sustainability to embed Scope 3 Net Zero practices into Meta's hardware development programs across all program spaces, including Compute, Storage, Network, AI, Silicon, Rack, and Power equipment. Key responsibilities include institutionalizing processes for emissions data capture and reporting, optimizing designs for reduced emissions, and developing educational programs for hardware teams. The TPM will also be responsible for creating business cases that promote further emissions reductions and driving alignment across multiple organizations regarding the business value of reducing or eliminating emissions in new design programs. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks associated with Net Zero efforts, ensuring that Meta's hardware development organization achieves its sustainability goals efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Own Meta Infrastructure Hardware's overall Net Zero program design, implementation, and success across multiple areas and locations.
  • Capture, report, and forecast emissions data for all hardware programs.
  • Design and integrate Net Zero practices into existing development processes, ensuring emissions data is captured from design inception to mass production.
  • Drive business cases and implement circularity, re-use, and emissions avoidance programs with partner teams.
  • Create execution plans in partnership with technical leads, focusing on carbon inventory, forecasting, pricing, and reporting systems.
  • Lead carbon reduction and avoidance programs through design optimization and equipment re-use.
  • Continuously improve Net Zero practices in Meta Infrastructure to enhance efficiency and integration with existing processes.
  • Communicate effectively with leadership, stakeholders, and core working teams to raise awareness of Net Zero initiatives.
  • Define scope, requirements, development model, schedules, and deliverables with engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Provide hands-on support during the implementation of new emissions programs and requirements.
