About the position

uStudio seeks an energetic and creative infrastructure engineer to join our product and platform team and help us improve our devops approach to infrastructure, monitoring, and reliability. As a company, our goal is straightforward: evolve enterprise communication beyond traditionally text-based solutions through our secure media applications including podcasting, live streaming, and media distribution. As a development team, we support this goal by building a family of web and mobile applications and intuitive APIs. We employ test-driven development and pair-programming to ensure our code is robust and iteration-friendly while collaborating to identify and refine solutions to our customers' problems. uStudio approaches deployment, infrastructure, and security as shared responsibilities across the engineering team. Engineers deploy their own code and consider monitoring, resilience, and risk throughout the lifecycle of feature development. However, we are always looking for experienced infrastructure engineers who can evaluate our processes and technology and help guide us towards improvements that ensure our team can stay focused on improving our products and not responding to issues.

Requirements

  • Experience in one or more areas of compliance (SOC2, HIPAA, PCI, etc.)
  • Experience in one or more modern programming language(s) (Python is a plus)
  • Experience with modern cloud environments (GCP, AWS, etc.)
  • Experience with automated container management (Kubernetes, Docker: Cloud, Nomad, etc.)
  • Experience deploying and improving monitoring solutions (DataDog, CloudWatch, NewRelic, CopperEgg, etc.)
  • Motivated to identify and solve monitoring, deployment, and security challenges
  • Approach configuration as code
  • Avoid solutions that require engineers to directly access machines via SSH, etc.

Benefits

  • Competitive salaries
  • Great benefits
  • Work in small cross-functional, pair-programming teams with continuous, agile releases
  • Value test-driven development and configuration-as-code
  • Strive to provide the best tools for our developers
  • Prioritize API development and extensible solutions
  • Use modern cloud-based solutions (GCP, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Enjoy exploring new technologies without blindly following trends
  • Extensively utilize (and contribute to) open source projects
  • Believe that diversity of experience, perspectives, and background leads to a better workplace and better products
