About the position
The Infrastructure Automation Engineer at TEKsystems is responsible for leading and implementing enterprise-level automation solutions within the infrastructure and operations technology spaces. This role involves designing, developing, and supporting automation orchestration, particularly using Ansible and Python, while mentoring other engineers in automation practices. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, guiding projects from conception to execution and ensuring effective communication across teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of medium to large automation solutions in infrastructure and operations.
- Support and maintain automation orchestration platforms such as Rundeck and AWX.
- Guide infrastructure engineers in developing their automation skills and solutions.
- Document and translate automation concepts into reliable scripts using Ansible and Python.
- Identify enterprise-level issues and inform automation design and operations accordingly.
- Conduct data analysis to quantify the business value of automation solutions.
- Provide production support, including problem identification and ticket documentation.
- Manage multiple projects and context switch effectively between tasks.
Requirements
- Expertise in Ansible and ability to quickly learn new programming languages.
- Experience in translating automation concepts into scripts using Ansible/Python.
- History of engineering design work, particularly in infrastructure automation.
- Familiarity with SCM and SDLC principles, including version control best practices.
- Experience with both Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
- Comfortable with identifying and testing hardware/software requirements for automation solutions.
- Broad understanding of infrastructure devices, protocols, and operations.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with AAP or AWX.
- Familiarity with containers and virtual environments.
- Knowledge of risk management and MRA processes.
- Experience with JavaScript, YAML, Jinja, JSON, and Shell Scripting.
