About the position

The Infrastructure Automation Intern position at Thermo Fisher Scientific provides a unique opportunity for rising juniors or seniors to gain hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing automated infrastructure and event-driven systems. This role is crucial for ensuring the availability and performance of business-critical infrastructure and applications.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and deploying automated infrastructure solutions using tools like Ansible and Terraform.
  • Use event-driven frameworks and tools like StackStorm to build scalable and responsive systems.
  • Participate in the monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automated processes to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Write and maintain scripts in languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell to automate repetitive tasks and streamline workflows.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, system administrators, and DevOps engineers, to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Create and update documentation for automation processes, tools, and systems.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with colleagues across different departments.
