About the position
The Engineering Manager will lead the Alight Cloud Infrastructure Automation team, focusing on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) modules, coding standards, and pipeline tooling. This role combines people management, product leadership, and technical expertise to drive innovation and efficiency within the team, ensuring alignment with company goals and fostering a diverse and inclusive environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, vision, and direction to the Infrastructure Automation team.
- Inspire and manage a team of engineers, including resource allocations, training, mentoring, performance, pay, and individual career guidance.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of Terraform modules used across Alight.
- Guide the development and maintenance of integration pipelines and IaC testing frameworks.
- Maintain the product backlog, ensuring stories are properly defined and prioritized.
- Ensure platform governance, efficient utilization, and compliance with security and operational standards.
- Conduct regular surveys of stakeholder satisfaction and implement action plans to improve satisfaction.
- Provide hands-on assistance to the engineers on your team related to their work.
- Review work from the team to ensure adherence to development and security standards.
- Provide training support related to the use of Alight's IaC tooling.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in infrastructure automation, software design/development, cloud technology.
- 3+ years of experience managing direct reports.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Proficient with Agile development, Scrum methodology, and DevOps principles.
