About the position
The Infrastructure Automation Manager at Alight Solutions is responsible for leading the Infrastructure Automation team, focusing on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) modules, coding standards, and pipeline tooling. This role combines people management, product leadership, and technical expertise to drive innovation and efficiency in cloud infrastructure automation, particularly using AWS and Terraform.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, vision, and direction to the Infrastructure Automation team to ensure alignment with company goals.
- Inspire and manage a team of engineers, including resource allocations, training, mentoring, performance, pay, and individual career guidance.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of Terraform modules used across Alight.
- Guide the development and maintenance of integration pipelines, IaC testing frameworks, infrastructure drift impact, and module code distribution.
- Maintain the product backlog, ensuring stories are properly defined and prioritized.
- Ensure platform governance, efficient utilization, and compliance with security and operational standards.
- Conduct regular surveys of stakeholder satisfaction and implement action plans to improve satisfaction.
- Provide hands-on assistance to the engineers on your team related to their work.
- Review work from the team to ensure adherence to development and security standards.
- Provide training support related to the use of Alight's IaC tooling.
- Stay updated with the latest developments in infrastructure automation and incorporate relevant advancements into Alight's products and processes.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in infrastructure automation, software design/development, cloud technology.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform, AWS, and other cloud services.
- 3+ years of experience managing direct reports.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Proficient with Agile development, Scrum methodology, and DevOps principles.
