About the position
SAIC is seeking a Mid-Level Infrastructure Engineer to join a dynamic team in a fast-paced Data Center environment. This role involves significant customer interaction and collaboration with various engineering disciplines, focusing on the design, implementation, and maintenance of data center infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Design/Update/Implement Data Center Layouts
- Install/De-install rack mountable computer equipment
- Track equipment via tracking software and/or spreadsheets
- Maintain the organization, cleaning, and access lists of the Server Room
- Perform basic System Administration duties such as configuring Power Management Systems
- Maintain Metrics of Power and Space utilization for future growth estimation
- Lead the design and planning of complex cable infrastructure projects
- Develop and Implement equipment Installation Plans (EIPs) for cable racks and wiring
- Stay updated on the latest codes and technologies in telecommunications and building technologies
- Accountable for all interconnection services including installation and maintenance of Meet Me Rooms and cabling systems
Requirements
- Mid-level experience in Infrastructure Engineering
- Proficiency in designing and implementing data center layouts
- Experience with rack mountable computer equipment installation
- Familiarity with tracking software and spreadsheets
- Basic knowledge of System Administration duties
- Ability to maintain metrics of power and space utilization
- Experience in leading cable infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of DoD requirements and industry standards
- Ability to develop and implement equipment installation plans
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with fiber optic cabling and patch panels
- Familiarity with CAT 6A STP cabling
- Knowledge of telecommunications and building technologies
- Experience in customer-facing roles
