About the position

The Infrastructure Engineer will join the Silicon Infrastructure team at Ericsson, focusing on designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable RedHat Linux and software infrastructure solutions. This role involves automating infrastructure environments, providing technical support, and ensuring the stability and integrity of the development environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain scalable RedHat Linux and software infrastructure solutions.
  • Automate infrastructure environment using scripting and configuration management tools.
  • Perform regular maintenance, upgrades, and patches for Linux infrastructure and HPC systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Monitor system performance and implement solutions to optimize performance of RedHat Linux servers and IBM LSF compute cluster.
  • Perform routine operational tasks in IBM LSF clusters.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to internal stakeholders and hardware engineering end-users.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect data and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and policies.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Generate reports on system performance, security incidents, and other metrics as required.
  • Work closely with hardware engineers, development, operations, and support staff to ensure cohesive infrastructure solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand requirements and provide updates on projects and issues.
  • Participate in cross-functional Agile project teams to deliver Silicon Infrastructure initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) required with 2-3 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proficiency in managing and configuring RedHat Linux servers.
  • Proficiency in networking (TCP/IP fundamentals and routing).
  • Experience with scripting languages, with demonstrable skill in Python and Bash.
  • Experience in operations of remote access solutions such as Citrix and Exceed.
  • Familiarity with alerting and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or similar.
  • Familiarity with code repository tools such as Git and Gerrit.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems such as JIRA.
  • Familiarity with IT security practices, tools, and protocols.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Ability to analyze system performance and implement optimizations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency with continuous integration (Jenkins, Cloudbees, etc.).
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD, configuration management).
  • Experience with IT/Infrastructure Automation (Ansible, Puppet, Terraform).
  • Experience with batch management / HPC cluster software (LSF, Gridengine, Slurm).
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and virtualization technologies (VMware etc.).
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with database management and administration (Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB).
  • Familiarity in ELK stack, OpenSearch, or similar.
