About the position

Kennedy Jenks is seeking a dynamic Project Engineer to join their team in Southern California, focusing on water, wastewater, recycled water, utility infrastructure, and treatment process improvement projects. The role involves managing multiple tasks and deadlines while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver exceptional engineering and environmental consulting services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed designs, including drawings, specifications, and calculations for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Manage technical tasks such as planning, design, and construction support for civil infrastructure projects.
  • Support larger projects or lead smaller projects, coordinating with the Project Manager, team members, and sub-consultants.
  • Ensure timely completion of tasks and assist in managing project budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Provide expert support for multi-disciplinary teams in planning and executing infrastructure projects, including pipelines, tanks/reservoirs, pump stations, and treatment facilities.
  • Conduct site inspections and field measurements, ensuring accurate data collection and analysis.
  • Prepare engineering documents and contract documents, including construction specifications and plans.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals, respond to requests for information, and prepare site observation reports.
  • Assist in preparing client presentations and maintaining client communication, ensuring compatibility with design intent by coordinating with other disciplines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related scientific discipline required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in the planning, design, and analysis of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Broad understanding of municipal engineering, site development design, construction methods, and design and construction codes.
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain California PE within 6 months of hire.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
