About the position

Kennedy Jenks is seeking a dynamic Project Engineer to join their team in Southern California. This role focuses on managing multiple tasks and deadlines while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams on various water, wastewater, recycled water, utility infrastructure, and treatment process improvement projects. The position emphasizes innovation and sustainability in engineering and environmental consulting services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed designs, including drawings, specifications, and calculations for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Manage technical tasks such as planning, design, and construction support for civil infrastructure projects.
  • Support larger projects or lead smaller projects or components, coordinating with the Project Manager, team members, and sub-consultants.
  • Ensure timely completion of tasks and assist in managing project budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Provide expert support for multi-disciplinary teams in planning and executing infrastructure projects, including pipelines, tanks/reservoirs, pump stations, and treatment facilities.
  • Conduct site inspections and field measurements, ensuring accurate data collection and analysis.
  • Prepare engineering documents and contract documents, including construction specifications and plans.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals, respond to requests for information, and prepare site observation reports.
  • Assist in preparing client presentations and maintaining client communication, ensuring compatibility with design intent by coordinating with other disciplines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related scientific discipline required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in the planning, design, and analysis of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Broad understanding of municipal engineering, site development design, construction methods, and design and construction codes.
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain California PE within 6 months of hire.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
