About the position

The Supplier Quality Engineer at GE Vernova's Hydro Power North America division is responsible for ensuring the quality of components from suppliers. This role involves managing supplier activities, coordinating with various functions, and driving adherence to quality procedures. The engineer will also be involved in supplier selection, qualification, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage supplier activities to ensure the quality of assigned Commodity components.
  • Be the technical focal point to coordinate Sourcing, Design & Materials Management functions while interfacing with suppliers.
  • Drive consistency and adherence to quality procedures and specification requirements.
  • Fully accountable for quality and technical topics from order to delivery.
  • Manage a panel of suppliers up to 30 suppliers (could be more for regional commodity).
  • Request eligibility documentation from suppliers in line with compliance rules.
  • Manage supplier qualifications to ensure high-quality product delivery.
  • Drive compliance and maturity audits to assure effective process control and robust quality systems.
  • Perform risk analysis and propose mitigation plans for suppliers and products.
  • Provide technical guidance to suppliers to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Drive continuous improvement of supplier's quality, cycle, and delivery performance.
  • Manage supplier non-conformance and deviation activities, identifying process improvements and corrective actions.
  • Conduct process capability analysis for Critical to Quality characteristics and work with suppliers to improve process capability.
  • Support sourcing quality and cost-out initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve part quality.
  • Manage low-performing suppliers and link to audit results and manufacturing issues.
  • Be involved in the claim management process to ensure relevant data is available for recovery programs.

Requirements

  • Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial field from an accredited institution (or equivalent experience/knowledge).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in quality, manufacturing or engineering with Hydro-mechanical or similar commodity.
  • Fluent in French and English.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Audit / NDE / NACE certification.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem-solving skills / Six Sigma trained and certified or equivalent quality certification.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
  • Prior experience interpreting engineering drawings/specifications, metrology, and manufacturing process planning/evaluation.
  • Fluency in French.
  • Prior experience with Quality system - ISO 9000, international standards (such as ASME/ISO/DIN).
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
