About the position

As an Automation Engineer at Amazon, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency of automated systems that are vital for the company's operations. Your responsibilities will include monitoring and troubleshooting automated machinery, collaborating with various departments, and implementing continuous improvement projects to enhance productivity. You will leverage your expertise to solve complex issues and support your team in maintaining optimal performance of automation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor key systems, identifying and resolving issues and challenges.
  • Collaborate with the European control network to monitor machinery metrics for material handling.
  • Provide internal stakeholders with graphical representations of data related to problem resolution.
  • Oversee or actively participate in continuous improvement projects managed by the European control network.
  • Work with multiple departments to ensure all systems are properly documented and backup archives are maintained.
  • Collaborate with colleagues worldwide to install and commission new equipment.
  • Assist other teams within the European control network as needed.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings and electrical systems, defining improvement strategies to ensure programming compliance with IEC 61131-3.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • Extensive experience with automation through PLC-based control systems and troubleshooting in process and continuous production environments.
  • Extensive experience assisting with various conveyor systems and sorting systems.
  • Extensive experience in material handling, flow visualization, capacity monitoring.
  • Experience with at least one of the following tools: Microsoft Office, project management tools, EPLAN, Ladder Logic programming with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Codesys PLC, Ignition SCADA or similar platforms, EthernetIP, Profinet, Profibus, AS-i or other fieldbus networks, VFD, safety gateways, and input/output devices.
  • Advanced knowledge of English and Italian, both spoken and written.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, industrial electronics, or another technical field.
  • Experience working with ISO 13849 and ISO 62061 standards.
  • Professional experience in multi-site distributed environments.
  • Project management experience with multiple models such as Agile and Waterfall.
  • Experience with Six Sigma, data analysis, and process improvement techniques.
